|
| Materials Needed: MOR Etch etching paper (stencil), etching cream,
cotton swab, sponge or paper towels, glass
cleaner. Recommended Conditions For Etching: Shaded/Dry 65º F - 90º F. |
|
| STEP 1 (VIN - number):
Locate the 17 digit Vehicle Identification Number on the VIN plate. The VIN plate is
located on the driver's side dash under the windshield. THE VIN NUMBER IS THE
"FINGERPRINT" ON ALL VEHICLES. |

|
An average vehicle uses 6 strips for 6 windows. We
strongly recommend a VIN-etch every
piece of glass. |
|
| STEP 2 - STENCIL
(etching paper):
** Set the typewriter/printer on heavy or
bold print. (For best results with type-writers, remove the ribbon
cartridge.) Type the VIN number in the center, on the blue/yellow side
of the etching paper. (Prefix "VIN" before the number.)
|
|
 |
|
| STEP 3 (positioning):
Clean the window area to be etched. Peel one blue/yellow strip from the backing paper and
position on the glass. Gently press the strip flat to avoid any
unwanted etching. BEST locations for etching are door windows above the door handles, the
lower right corner of the windshield and rear window, T-tops and sunroofs. ** (Hint: Etching shows up best in the Black Ceramic Band
of the glass) Start with the windshield, work your way around the vehicle. ** Double check your work ! Make sure all numbers
are horizontal and right side up ! |

complete job. |
 |
< * Hint:
Etched numbers show up best in the blacked out areas of the windshield, rear
sidelights and
rear window. |
|
|
|
|
STEP 4 - ** IMPORTANT
(etching): Read the label on the etching cream. With
applicator, apply the etching cream to cover all VIN numbers on the blue/yellow strip. The
etching cream has a mild acid base and will immediately start to etch. For best results
leave the cream on 2-3 minutes, slightly longer in cooler temperatures.
Over etching or too heavy cream on stencil can
cause a "fuzziness" effect if cream is left on too long. (Fuzziness can be
removed with glass polishing compound). |
|
| STEP 5 (rinsing):
After time is up, carefully lift the blue/yellow strip from the etched surface and
discard. Immediately spray the etched area with glass cleaner to neutralize the etching
cream and wipe aggressively to remove any residue. |

|
|
 |
STEP 6 (option):
It is suggested that a black decal (can be purchased at any Office
Depot, or some stationery stores) be attached inside of the window right
behind the etched VIN number, this will make your VIN etching numbers
more obvious and alert, eventually keep the potential thieves walk away. |
|

|
To get quick decal effect on your etched
VIN, you can also use our designed decal which can be printed, cut and
taped behind the etched VIN. To get the decal, click

|
|
| ** Helpful
Hints: |
| Always verify the Vehicle
Identification Number on the VIN plate to the typed stencil prior to etching.
The etching cream will permanently etch the surfaces of glass. Caution
should be used when handling the cream, download the files and read
carefully before you use. |
